Coed match of the week (Watermelons win 2 of 3 from Shenanigans)

Shenanigans had been cruising along with a 17-1 record, while the Watermelons were 6-12 heading into the match.

But Watermelons came away with two wins in the three games (25-23, 19-25, 26-24).

Eric had 19 kills, 2 blocks, and 3 aces in the match (including 10 kills in Game 3). Kurt chipped in 12 kills, 4 blocks and an ace (9 kills in Game 3). Marci had one kill, but it was an important one in Game 1, and also had many digs and passed well in serve receive. Megan did the majority of the setting and had 3 aces.

The final point of Game 3 came on a set over into the corner by Eric.

For Shenanigans, Roman had 15 kills, 4 blocks and 2 aces, James had 7 kills and a ton of digs, and Michael had 7 kills, 2 blocks and an ace. Cheryl set and had 4 kills, including the 24th point in Game 3 that kept her team's hopes alive off a set by Michael.

Shenanigans rebounded with a 3-0 win over Ultra, all close games (25-21, 25-23, 25-23) and is now 21-3.

Watermelons also won all three of their games against the Scoopers (33-31, 25-17, 25-9) and is now 11-13.

I'll try to do a match (or two) of the week every week.

Men's league schedule changes

I've made some revisions to the men's 4's schedule
to reflect the problems (Nutley can't play 6:45,
makeups for Miller and Stanford Place).
The changes for this week (april 9): Zhou plays at
6:45, 7:45 and 8:45 (the makeup with Miller);
Smackey switches to 7:45 and 8:45; Nutley switches
to 7:45 and 8:45.
I sent out an email with the old schedule, get rid of the old
one! If you didn't get it, send me an email and I'll attach it. (fsiegle@powerzonevb.com.
Please be a little early Monday so you can pay
league fees (those that aren't gold or haven't
already).

Men's league standings/news

Here's the Men's 4's standings after the first week:

GOLD DIVISION: Scott Teske 6-0; Smackey, Ugly Ball and Ringwoodies all 4-2, Stanford Place 0-6 (but with possible makeups).

SILVER DIVISION: Western Penn 5-1, Zhou 1-2, Storms 0-3, Nutley 0-6, Miller Time 0-0 (six makeups needed).

Some notes: All six of Scott Teske's team's games were against Silver Division teams. Zhou's win over Western Penn was by a 27-25 score. Ringwoodies were missing Brad and CJ. Ugly Ball only had three players, Bob, Ilya and Gary. They lost the third game to Smackey, 25-21.

Upcoming: Please note on your schedules: any match against Nutley that starts at 6:45 will be moved to 8:45 throughout the schedule. They can't make it here by that time, and we have the space at 8:45 anyway.

I'll be figuring out the makeups for Stanford Place and Miller Time this week and will send out a new schedule with them and the adjustments for Nutley.
