Coed league week 1 results

The McCreakersons (Ann-Lee Yuan, Roman Bulowski, Tom Narath, and Jim Findura) took the early lead in the Gold Division standings with sweeps against the Pink Flamingos and What Hurts in the first week of the Winter Coed Fours League.

McCreakersons opened the night with a 25-18, 25-16, 15-11 sweep over the Pink Flamingos, a new team featuring Eric Kricks, Chris Jenkins, Linda Delancy and Colleen Masterson.

Jim Findura registered 12 kills, and 2 blocks to lead the way, while Roman Bulowski chipped in 8 kills and Tom Narath added 7 kills. Kathy Spear subbed for Ann-Lee and did the setting, also contributing 4 aces.

Eric Kricks had 12 kills and 3 blocks while sub Scott Doyle chipped in 6 kills. Linda Delancy had 3 kills and an ace, while Colleen Masterson did most of the setting.

McCreakersons beat What Hurts? 25-13, 25-14, 25-17 to start the season 6-0. What Hurts? played with only 3 players - Jenifer Duff, Paul Mehlin and Gary Curran, with Rich "Dupe'' Mehlin unable to attend.

Knuckle Up is in second place in the Gold Division with a 5-1 record. They went 2-1 against Cupsaw, and 3-0 vs. Team Ultra.
Team Brooks started the season with a 4-2 record, beating Team Ultra in 2 of 3 games and Cupsaw in 2 of 3.

Rounding out the Gold Division standings, Pink Flamingos and What Hurts are each 3-3, Cupsaw is 2-4, Ultra is 1-5, and Touch It! Smackey is 0-6.

In other gold highlights, Knuckle Up came back from down 24-18 to beat Ultra 28-26 in their first game, then went on to a sweep. Roman Stobnocki had 22 kills and 4 aces, Mike Campbell added 13 kills and 5 aces, setter Cheryl Vadas had a kill and 2 aces, and Sarah Chisholm added 2 kills and an ace in the match. Jim Elliott and Alex Desau each had 15 kills for Ultra, Jeff Shirtz had 3 kills and 5 aces, and setter Edna Cetina had 2 aces.

In the Silver Division, Spike U returned to the league after skipping the fall and started off 5-1 to lead the standings.
